- Dear Jeff Rense,
-
- I am a physician who has some knowledge about the treatment
of Sephardic children for Tinea Capitis, the ring worm that may cause permanent
baldness unless treated. It is a highly contagious disease. In the 50's
and 60's, the standard of treatment, after using a solution of Mercurochrome
or other solutions, was to use X-rays to burn the ringworm.
-
- This was the standard of care in USA, Europe and Asia.
When Israel was flooded with refugees this became a major problem to which
Israel was unprepared. Professor Haiim Sheba director of Tel-Hashomer Hospital,
a strong peace advocate and mentor to generations of physicians including
myself, went to USA and shnorred (begged for money) and got a few machines
specifically built in the USA for the purpose.
-
- These machines were used for a few years until adverse
effect, cancer in particular, became a strong possibility. Not only were
Sephardic children treated with radiation but also Caucasians, my wife
for example, and Arab children.
-
- This was the treatment of choice at that time in the
same way that radiating of the Thymus in children in USA was the treatment
of choice at that time causing cancer of the Thyroid in adults later on.
There was no conspiracy, no discrimination and no attempt to harm Sephardic
children. The treatment of Tinea Capitis is very difficult even today.
The drug of choice, Grieseofulvin, has to be taken for many months. It
is a toxic drug and the long term effect on children is unknown. The success
rate of cure is about 70%.
-
- The President of Israel is Sephardic and much is done
to preserve Sephardic traditions. There is a chief Rabbi for the Sephardic.
My sister and my daughter are married to Sephardic men. Israel in a country
that tries to integrate its citizens in its society and life. The wrongful
accusations that were made were done to create a wedge in Israel population.
This will not happen.
