- We are facing a jungle of leakers of Plame's identity.
It certainly looks like an overkill if someone only wanted to out a single
operative to punish her husband.

- Maybe the bad guys were not just "outing Plame."

- People like to think the best of their leaders and those
the leaders pick to help them. When something seems inappropriate, people
would accept a benign explanation such as negligence or incompetence. The
worst fair-minded people would think of is personal emotions gone wild,
a lashing out, an act of revenge.

- But the revelations about the Plame affair require us
to be less linient with our trusted advisors.

- Many CIA operatives have been outed in the process of
outing Plame.

- Let's look at the classified "damage assessment"
that the CIA must have prepared by now.

- Were some of these operatives outed before Joe Wilson
angered the Iraq war promoters?

- Was there a pattern to the events? Was it systematic?
Were there deliberate actions to sabotage the CIA regardless of Plame and
Wilson?

- Are there similar outings in the rest of the intelligence
community? We have a dozen of them, several throughout the military.

- Is there systematic treason? Is it linked to the ongoing
Franklin/AIPAC Israeli espionage investigation?

- Is "outing Plame" a distraction from something
more sinister, something we hate to even think about, because it is too
scary?
