- America's 21st century Boston Tea Party nears the start
date. The Minute Man Project in Tombstone, Arizona features American volunteers
expected to exceed 1,000 men and women from 49 states of the Union. Volunteers
range from 21 to 75. Its sponsors, former combat veteran U.S. Marine,
Jim Gilchrist and Publisher Chris Simcox of the Tombstone Tumbleweed, think
the number could be as high as 2,000 volunteers by the start date of April
1, 2005. For anyone who wants to volunteer, go to www.minutemanproject.com

- Deemed the greatest 'Neighborhood Watch' group in America's
history, those American patriots stand to assist U.S. Border Patrol agents-just
like neighbors in any community in America call the police when someone
suspicious enters their neighborhood. For thirty days, armed with binoculars
and night scopes, American patriots will be doing the jobs that our Congress
won't do. They will report illegal aliens to federal agents. The goal
is to stop illegal aliens for 30 days to show it can be done.
-
- Assisting them, Richard Humphries commands a 30 plane
air force that will fly the border with orders to point out illegals for
the ground volunteers.
-
- "We are getting so many volunteers, ground crews
especially, that we are considering a cut-off date pretty soon," Humphries
said. "The most significant news is that we have changed our M.O.
and now, instead of trying to remain as hidden and unnoticed as possible,
so that we would be undetected by the illegals, we will be as obvious as
possible, playing music, lighting campfires and wearing bright clothing."
-
- "This tactic will let the aspiring illegals see,
while still south of the border, that there is a line of American citizens
just waiting to alert Border Patrol if they are foolish enough to cross,
which should prevent them from crossing," Humphries said. "That
is far safer than calling them in after they have crossed and, after all,
what we are trying to do is show that, with enough manpower, the flow can
be stopped."
-
- "This should make Border Patrol much happier about
the whole thing and it certainly will make it harder for our media to continue
to portray us as 'gun toting vigilantes taking the law into their own hands,'"
Humphries said. "We will simply be a LARGE number of "families"
camping along the border, 24/7, having fun and getting to know each other,
which will, of course, notify Border Patrol if we happen to see any illegals."
-
- "I plan on limiting the aerial surveillance to no
more than four planes at a time, each assigned to a grid that they will
stay in each plane will have," Humphries said. "In addition to
the pilot, an "observer" equipped with the proper radio equipment,
so that he can communicate not only with our command center, but directly
with the other planes, our ground crews and Border Patrol."
-
- "Experience has shown me that it is highly improbable
that all 30 planes will actually show up and the ones that do will not
be here at the same time," Humphries said. "However, I get more
planes almost every day, so who knows just how many we may end up with?
With enough planes and ground troops we can perhaps expand our area of
operation which, as it now stands, is a 20 mile stretch of border from
the Huachuca Mountains east to Douglas."
-
- "If we do expand, maybe I will have six or more
planes in the air at the same time, each flying perhaps a three hour shift,"
Humphries said. "There will be no night flights authorized by me but
if someone wants to do it on his own, I can't stop him."
-
- The Minute Man Project stands as an American Moment.
It'll be a second Woodstock with another theme: "AMERICANS DOING
THE JOBS THEIR CONGRESS WON'T DO." President Bush neglects his oath
of office. He's in violation of Article IV Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution.
The majority of Congress is in violation of their oath of office. "In
the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce and brave man, hated
and scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him, for
then it costs nothing to be a patriot." Mark Twain
-
- The Minute Man Project's time is now! It's you. It's
me. It's an American Moment. Either read about it in history books or
be a part of it.
