- CHERTOFF NOMINATED FOR HOMELAND SECURITY CHIEF
-
- In the wake of the embarrassing withdrawal of Bernie
Kerik, President Bush has nominated federal appellate judge Michael Chertoff
to head Homeland Security. Chertoff is another black side operator within
the bowels of government. He helped draft the nation's antiterrorism laws
after the Sept. 11 attacks, and was responsible for rounding up and incarcerating
without trial over 700 Arabs after those attacks. None were found to be
guilty of any crime. Chertoff was minority counsel in the first Senate
investigation related to the death of Vincent Foster and majority special
counsel in the second such Senate investigation. He was therefore partly
responsible for the cover-up of the Foster murder in those investigations.
Interestingly enough, he also comes from a close association with Rudolph
Giuliani, just like Bernie Kerik. Looks like Giuliani may have more say
in dictating who gets this job than I previously realized.
-
- Chertoff, 51, has publicly stated that the Bill of Rights
is obsolete. He was in charge of the criminal division of the Justice Department
for the first three years of Bush's presidency and was ruthless in his
pursuance of anyone that could be labeled a terrorist supporter. He made
sure that every one of Ashcroft,s press releases about criminal suspects
added the proverbial "has suspected links to al Qaeda." Many
critics point to Chertoff as the bad guy within the DOJ who "trampled
on civil liberties while prosecuting a legal war on terrorism." With
the government,s new plans for keeping suspects under permanent incarceration,
without due process of law, Americans should not rest easy with the likes
of Chertoff at the helm. Bernie Kerik would have been an incompetent joke
at HS; Chertoff will be more like the KGB. This man is dangerous.
