- The US Military is reporting 'only' 2,500 US soldiers
wounded in action and not returned to duty within 72 hours since the start
of the invasion and war on Iraq. http://lunaville.org/warcasualties/Summary.aspx
-
- But what is the TRUE rate of injuries to American men
and women soldiers?
-
- A story from The Scotsman has the following headline:
-
- "2,200 Casualties - The True Cost Of UK's War On
Iraq"
-
- http://www.rense.com/general52/ost.htm
-
- This is a key in unlocking the possible true numbers
of US wounded and is likely closer to the truth than the Pentagon figures.
-
- The British Ministry of Defense has admitted that "2,200
injured British military personnel have been flown home from the Gulf since
the start of the campaign."
-
- One assumes that the 2,200 flown home had injuries serious
enough to warrant medical treatment back in the UK. British sources also
state UK troops sustain 50 combat injuries every month.
-
- The British currently have 13,000 soldiers in Iraq, most
all of whom are in the south of that country... generally a much 'safer'
place to be.
-
- The US, on the other hand, has 10 times the number of
troops in Iraq than does the UK. And the Americans are in the thick of
combat in the most heavily-contested areas of that forsaken country.
-
- If American soldiers in Iraq are suffering the same rate
of injuries as their British counterparts - which is reasonable for several
reasons - it would translate into a total of 22,000 seriously wounded US
servicemen and women since Iraq was invaded, with a monthly injury rate
of about 500.
-
- Let the reader weigh the facts and decide.
