- Continued assault on high tech American jobs is out of
control ...As reported in an earlier article, the H1B Visa Program has
resulted in the replacement of American jobs by hundreds of thousands immigrants.
The H1B program allows high tech immigrants to come to our country as "sponsored"
participants, who get deported if they lose their job. Literally hundreds
of thousands of Americans have been displaced.
-
- Of course the government (ie. recipients of campaign
contributions and other perks) tells us this is good for us. It is good
for America to put Americans on the rolls of the unemployed. After all
it is just a few hundred thousand people vs. millions of dollars and vote
pandering. The Constitutional duty to protect our borders and well being
of citizens is lost in the shuffle.
-
- But the high tech industry is caught in a double squeeze.
The current AND former Administration also are shipping American high tech
jobs out of the country. One of the primary recipients of your (or someone
in your family or friends) job is India. The current Bush Administration
also supports this attack on American jobs.
-
- When they say (as in the statement by Gregory Mankiw,
chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers below) that "outsourcing
of jobs [is] a long-term "plus" for the economy," what the
blazes does this really mean? You aint got to be a rocket scientist to
figure that that the American worker does NOT benefit! Unemployed is unemployed!
Reduction in job openings equates to lower salary and job security!
-
- While Mr. Powell said Tuesday that "it is the reality
of 21st century economics that these kinds of dislocations will take place,"
he was quick to add that the Bush administration would work to train people
for new jobs.
-
- Great logic. Take people who have led the world in product
development and train them to flip hamburgers! Besides, where is this alleged
retraining effort? The true reality of the 21st century is that this Administration
has abandoned its Constitutional duty to protect the well being of American
citizens!
-
- In Washington, the White House endorsed Mr. Powell's
comments.
-
- Of course, the Bush campaign has raised how many millions
of dollars for his re-election? Its hard for unemployed Americans to match
that kind of economic influence! So they just do not count!
-
- Both influx of legal (and illegal) immigrants and the
outflow of American jobs are out of control and you are being lied to.
-
- Here in Georgia, this will have its greatest direct impact
in the Atlanta area where the majority of high tech jobs are located. These
folks will flock to the polls in July and November and probably support
the very people who will eliminate an ever increasing percentage of their
jobs.
-
- Indirectly it will affect the rest of the State. The
Atlanta area economy is already trying to steal highway funds from the
rest of the State, gets an unprecedented boost from the salaries of thousands
of State and federal employees paid by your tax dollars, is the pioneer
in raising the current limits on sales tax (this is like opening Pandora's
Box) and is looking at your water with greedy eyes.
-
- So, now you will get to cover the Atlanta's area loss
of high tech jobs due to "out sourcing" by supplementing their
loss of tax revenue from high tech job loss.
-
- This is a failed policy and Bush is just plain WRONG.
