Personally, I cannot see any spokesperson in our military putting forth the tripe contained herein. There could be many reasons why eosinophilia white cells would be found. Anything from water parasites to chemical/radiological exposure. Even Smallpox and other vaccines could cause the white cell reaction. I think it quite premature, in light of lack of definitve laboratory results, for the Army to claim they know what is killing and sickening our troops. Personally, I don't think they have a clue. Another thing to consider is the fact that our troops are on polluted land. We bombarded Iraq with DU weapons and other weapons from our black ops back in Gulf War 1. The environment was KNOWN to be polluted and is not going to purge itself in 10+ short years. We then compound the environmental pollution by bombarding the land again in Gulf War 2. The area also sustained munitions explosions and the oil well fires of Gulf War 1. How much can the environment take? How much pollution can humans endure before the immune system collapses? The Iraqis have had 10 years for their systems to adjust to the pollutants in air, food, water and soil. Our troops are sustaining initial exposure and many will become ill. Compounding this is the fact that our troops are under constant stress. There is a limit to how much stree the human body and immune system can endure. There is also a possibility that small numbers of troops are being deliberately poisoned. I wish the Army would wait until they have definitive diagnosis before making statements about knowing what is sickening and killing the troops. YOU ARE NOW ON THE CUTTING EDGE The Associated Press yesterday (September 4, 2003) made an announcement that probably brought some degree of cheer to the grieving loved ones of solders who had suddenly died in Iraq from the "Mysterious Illness" being widely reported now. Further, the loved ones of other soldiers in Iraq are probably breathing a whole lot more easily now, fully confident that U.S. Army medical professionals are now on top of the situation and are acting now to prevent any more soldiers from dying in the same way. Unfortunately, when we consulted with our medical source, a medical doctor serving in a foreign army, this AP article offers no professional diagnosis, is misleading, and apparently more of an effort to confuse than to enlighten. Let us examine the story first. Army Finds Cause Of Four Cases In Unusual Rash Of Pneumonia By Pauline Jelinek Associated Press 1:00 p.m. September 4, 2003 "WASHINGTON -- Army officials investigating a number of serious pneumonia cases among troops in the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns say they have discovered what sickened four soldiers. The overall review continues into all the cases, 19 instances of pneumonia so serious the patients had to be put on ventilators and flown to Europe. Two of the cases were fatal... Blood tests also showed that 10 of the 19 had larger than normal numbers of eosinophilia white blood cells known to fight certain infections, especially parasitic ones." This is the Army's "discovery" -- "larger than normal numbers of eosinophilia white blood cells" Let us stop right here to discover what we have just been told. The Army has just definitely announced that they "have discovered what sickened four soldiers". Now, that is great news! If the Army has "discovered" what has caused these soldiers to be infected, they can hopefully prevent any more men from getting sick and dying. On the surface, this news sounds very, very good, indeed. But, at Cutting Edge, we try never to look only on the surface, but also beneath the exterior. In this case, we need expert medical assistance, so we emailed this article in its entirety to the medical doctor in a foreign army, asking for an analysis. The return email was so incredible we felt compelled to call overseas to talk personally. Here is the true story. This doctor pointed out that the story is so completely composed of vague generalities, it is meaningless to a medical doctor. No medical analysis was offered within the article, except the reference to the "eosinophilia white blood cells"; while the non-trained layman might believe that higher than normal "eosinophilia white blood cells" was the answer to the "mystery pneumonia", to a doctor, the use of this phrase indicates that the Army medical people do not really know what caused these deaths. In other words, they are "clueless". Let this good doctor explain: "AHHHH YES!!! Eosinophils!!! Infectious disease and parasitic infections - sounds a lot like the beginning of the Gulf War Syndrome ... The article really doesn't say a lot. Just without saying it, they are saying: 'right now, folks, we're clueless". Even though the article does state in the beginning that they do know what harmed the soldiers. Read it again, and see for yourself. All they're saying is the eosinophils are elevated, which could be this, that, or the other. But they have not, I REPEAT NOT given a DIAGNOSIS of what is wrong." At this point, I picked up the phone to call the doctor overseas. While this email told me that the Army is simply passing out propaganda to the people, I really still did not understand all the relevant medical facts. This is what the doctor told me, referring me to a website that proved to be so helpful. This site is: "UCLA Nursing Department, Complete Blood Count (CBC), Eosinophils" -- http://www.nursing.ucla.edu/userpages/mwoo/cbc/eosinoph.htm -- You can see a microscopic picture of an eosinophil blood cell. "Eosinophilia white blood cells" are one type of numerous white blood cells in the body. As this UCLA article indicates, eosinophils represent just 2.7% of the total white blood cell count in our bodies. Whenever an infection enters the body, a "call" goes out to all white blood cells to begin multiplying to attack and destroy the infection. Thus, whenever a person enters a doctor's office -- or the Emergency Room -- with a raging fever, the doctor will rightly conclude the person has an equally raging infection in his body. The first step he will perform is to take a blood sample and the very first thing he will do is to examine the white blood count, including eosinophilia blood cells. Thus, when the Army doctors said in this article that they had noted that these guys had an elevated level of eosinophilia, they were simply describing Step One of the medical discovery process to determine what the problem was; yet, this article presents the finding of an elevated eosinophils as the "discovery", saying that that they know what the cause of death is because they see that the eosinophils are elevated! Instead of knowing what the problem is, these doctors are really saying that they are stuck on Step One of the medical discovery process! As our doctor said, they are "clueless". Furthermore, this doctor said that the very act of injecting a soldier with a vaccine will cause these white blood cells to dramatically increase in count! Therefore, since our soldiers have been recently vaccinated, a medical specialist would expect that their eosinophil white blood cells would be elevated! Now you know why this statement was really an exercise in propaganda! Reporting an increase in these type of blood cells in such a manner as to suggest that such knowledge tells them the specific cause of this "mysterious pneumonia" is simply lying. Now, go back to the UCLA Nursing website once again, for some more information about "Eosinophil white blood cells". "FAST FACTS: * These normally make up 2.7% of WBC count * Stain with acid dye * During eosinophilic leukocytosis (increase in eosinophils), eosinophils increase from 5-90% (10-20% is most common) * Eosinopenia indicates a decrease in eosinophils "Causes of Eosinophilic Leukocytosis: * allergies (most common) * parasites (second most common cause) * other disease states pemphigus * dermatitis herpetiformis * scarlet fever * acute rheumatic fever * irradiation * polyarteritis nodosa * rheumatoid arthritis * sarcoidosis * tuberculosis * coccidioidomycosis (http://www.nursing.ucla.edu/userpages/mwoo/cbc/eosinoph.htm) Notice that two of the causes listed above are present in a high degree in the deserts of Iraq, exactly as we discussed in our August 16 newsletter. These two causes are: * Parasites (second most common cause) * Irradiation -- (Depleted Uranium) Now, let us reprint the significant information which this good medical doctor provided Cutting Edge in mid-August, for you will see how relevant this information, above, truly is to our deteriorating situation in Iraq. Quoting from our August 16, 2003, newsletter: "The body of every soldier in Iraq is now being assaulted by the following elements: 1. Searing heat between 120-150° - This tremendous heat will not relent until mid-October 2. Local biting insects that deliver a toxic pathogen with which the native Iraqis have to contend daily 3. A cocktail of vaccines that were administered prior to landing in Iraq. As in Gulf War I, these vaccines are highly toxic 4. Exposure to Depleted Uranium in the air, in the water in some areas, and in the dust everywhere. As Amy Worthington states in her article in The Idaho Observer, "The US and British troops are the walking dead." 5. Unknown and unpredictable mutations of physical maladies caused by the above combination of toxic elements "In the daily campaign in Iraq, soldiers are breathing in the toxic Depleted Uranium, and many of them are being constantly bitten by the local insects. These two elements join the toxic vaccine already in the body. Because of the unrelenting, searing heat, nearly every soldier is dehydrated to some degree, thus allowing this deadly combination of toxins to build up to dangerously concentrated levels. Further, this doctor related how American scientists keeping watch over the radioactive poisoning of the Pacific islands at which France and the United States conducted nuclear tests several decades ago, are constantly finding mutated organisms that have never been identified before! Uranium poisoning in our soldiers is very likely mutating with these other elements to create strange and deadly organisms for which the soldiers have not been prepared to face. The way in which these five elements combine to make the solider sick, or to kill him, will vary widely with each soldier. The age of the soldier plays a part, as does the individual genetic code, as does the health of the immune system. Thus, soldiers will be getting sick at various points along the time spectrum. Further, the exact cause of death will vary so widely that it will be difficult to prove any single cause. Some soldiers will die of pneumonia, some of internal organ meltdown, some of apparent heart attack, and some will die of maladies perhaps not yet seen in medical science." [Emphasis added] Thus, each body of our soldiers is fighting pathogens delivered by local biting insects -- some of which are parasitic -- by a cocktail of vaccines given before they entered Iraq, and by exposure to Depleted Uranium in the air, in the water in some areas, and in the dust everywhere. Further, as this doctor has stated, above, the manner in which these four elements act and react within the body may differ with each soldier! Thus, the poor medical doctor who is trying to discern what is killing these men from the evidence he is examining is really going to be stumped! These exposed soldiers are going to be dying of different maladies, because the irradiation from DU is going to cause mutations within each body that will produce a slightly different cause of death! This feature article, above, makes this point, as it says: "The Army investigation, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is trying to determine if there are common factors among the cases." They are likely to not find many "common factors"! In many instances, the soldiers will die of causes that do not really look like DU. To reiterate, each body of our soldiers are infected with: pathogens/parasites from local biting insects + Depleted Uranium + vaccinations they have been given. Now, let us return to this feature article for one point to which this doctor really takes exception! "Officials said there is no evidence the cases were caused by exposure to chemical or biological weapons, environmental toxins or Sever Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)." [Ibid.] Except for SARS, our medical doctor adviser believes this statement is also a bold faced lie. Depleted Uranium is certainly an "environmental toxin"! The vaccines these soldiers received are full of chemical and biological agents! Thus, the elevated "eosinophilia white blood cells" is simply a reaction to the terribly toxic vaccinations these soldiers received before entering combat in Iraq, coupled with later, and daily, exposure to Depleted Uranium, the cocktail of toxins is certain to be dangerously high. Since most of the soldiers are in some degree of dehydration because they are fighting in such high heat, the effects that might take 5-10 years to develop are being dramatically accelerated. We should expect to see more reports of Depleted Uranium poisoning in the news, and indeed, we are. Let us quickly examine these recent articles: NEWS BRIEF: "DANGEROUSLY HIGH LEVELS OF RADIATION MEASURED AROUND BAGHDAD", London Express, Mon, Sep 01 2003. "SOLDIERS and civilians in Iraq face a health timebomb after dangerously high levels of radiation were measured around Baghdad. Levels between 1,000 and 1,900 times higher than normal were recorded at four sites around the Iraqi capital where depleted uranium (DU) munitions have been used across wide areas. Experts estimate that Britain and the US used 1,100 to 2,200 tons of armour-piercing shells made of DU during attacks on Iraqi forces. That figure eclipses the 375 tons used in the 1991 Gulf War. Unlike that largely desert-based conflict, most of the rounds fired in March and April were in heavily residential areas." I find it incredible that a major public newspaper would finally break the story of the serious nature of Depleted Uranium! A public newspaper has finally reported what we have been saying for two months! Further, this article confirms what we expected, but could not verify, i.e., heavily residential areas have been hard hit by Depleted Uranium munitions. Remember that "Shock and Awe" bombardment against Baghdad? Since many of the targets were said to be hardened bunkers, we used many shells that had an outer casing of Depleted Uranium. When a DU munition explodes, the outer casing virtually vaporizes, turning much of a formerly very hard material into just dust -- irradiated dust! As a person breathes this dust in daily, they will eventually get sick, either within a few months or within 10 years, as we have discussed above. This dust is picked up by the winds and distributed many miles from the original location of explosion. Therefore, we have covered much of Iraq in irradiated uranium dust. Both our soldiers and Iraqi civilians "face a health timebomb". Now, let us go to another current article discussing the health effects on our own soldiers of Depleted Uranium munitions. NEWS BRIEF: "Iraq: Use Of Depleted Uranium Ammunition Again Raises Concerns", IraqWar.ru., 05.09.2003 (September 5, 2003], http://www.iraqwar.ru/iraq-read_article.php?articleId=18243&lang=en "Is the use of weapons reinforced with depleted uranium a health hazard in Iraq? The U.S. government and others say depleted uranium is safe, but questions persist ... Joyce Riley is far less confident in the safety of depleted uranium. Riley was a captain in the U.S. Air Force and served in the 1991 Gulf War. She tells RFE/RL that she became ill after the war and eventually had to leave military service. Riley says her health has recently improved, but that she believes she has been suffering from a mysterious condition known as Gulf War Syndrome. This is characterized by symptoms including fatigue, headaches, joint pain, skin rashes, nausea, dizziness, and respiratory disorders. "Now, Riley says, a new crop of combatants may be victims of Gulf War Syndrome -- those serving in the current war in Iraq, in which, again, allied forces used ammunition fortified with depleted uranium in battles with tanks and in attacks on some Iraqi government buildings. Riley dismisses the many studies that have failed to confirm a link between DU ammunition and health problems. She says some scientists may cultivate an aura of independence, but believes the results of their research can be bought for the right price. 'There is an agenda out there,' Riley said. 'There are people who are paid to produce reports that say there is no problem with this' ... Riley is the chief spokeswoman for the American Gulf War Veterans Association, an advocacy group for U.S. veterans of the 1991 war. But she says Gulf War Syndrome is not limited to Americans who served in that conflict. She says she believes it is affecting military personnel who served in the 1999 NATO-led Balkans war, in which DU ammunition also was used." This fact is true: all sorts of maladies have broken out in the Balkans area where President Clinton unleashed an air attack heavily fortified with Depleted Uranium Munitions, a condition they call the "Balkans Syndrome". You can easily see from this map that the area in which we unleashed our severe air attack in the Balkans area in 1999 is now a hotspot of irradiation caused diseases (Map taken from article, "Iraqi cancers, birth defects blamed on U.S. depleted uranium", by Larry Johnson, Seattle Post-Intelligencer Foreign Desk Editor, November 12, 2002 -- written 4 full months before we invaded Iraq!) In NEWS1843, we cover the number of Gulf War I vets who have come down with these types of illnesses, loosely called the "Gulf War Syndrome". If you re-read the email from our doctor serving in a foreign army, above, you will notice a somewhat cynical remark that another Gulf War Syndrome might be underway; the fact is, that DU irradiation plus vaccines plus local biting insects, is the likely cause of this so-called syndrome. Listen to Captain Riley again: "As for American soldiers who are now falling ill during their service in Iraq, she says the Pentagon is engaging in a cover-up characterized by intimidation. 'I can assure you these guys [serving in the current Gulf war] are coming back sick right now,' she said. '... they're sick. They're being told not to complain about it. And if they do [complain], they're going to be moved out of the military and they'll have no medical benefits.' According to Riley, U.S. military physicians have even resorted to the discredited tactics of the Soviet era -- attributing psychological causes for physical symptoms. She says these doctors have routinely given psychological tests to American service personnel suffering from suspected Gulf War Syndrome." [Ibid.] Our medical doctor agrees wholeheartedly and stands by the Cutting Edge August 16 newsletter, quoted above. CONCLUSION To try to ascertain the extent to which our soldiers might be poisoned, you only need to look at Gulf War I, where 75% of our soldiers who served on the ground are now suffering depleted uranium poisoning. With our current soldiers fighting a guerilla war in very, very hot conditions that create dehydration, they are likely to come down very sick -- with a number of them very dead -- in a much shorter period of time. We simply do not have enough facts at hand to know how many are really getting sick, how many are really dying, for the government has proven extremely adept in hiding the facts and lying well enough to cover their tracks. American families who have loved ones in Iraq need to be demanding some very honest answers. If you do not believe that we are telling the truth, or that we are exaggerating, just go to a search engine and type in "Depleted Uranium"; when I did this in Google, I got 122,000 hits. The truth is out there for anyone who is really interested in discovering it. Finally, the government cannot claim it did not know what the effects of Depleted Uranium munitions are, for they spread about 325 tons of it during Gulf War I and then saw the grim statistics. They fought this current war, dropping 10 times that amount of D.U. munitions on the entire land, and then they kept our troops on duty as peacekeepers and fighters against a guerilla army, knowing they would breathe this stuff in and get sick mightily fast. If you want to see proof of our government's culpability, go to the web site listed below, to see and hear a video created in the early-1990's to educate our troops as to the danger of D.U. on the battlefield. Even though this video reports much of the same facts as we have covered here, our understanding is that the Pentagon stopped showing this video in 1997; in fact, the U.S. military never did show very many of our troops the dangers posed by D.U. munitions. Therefore, even our own troops now serving in Iraq do not know the danger they are facing. Although we are not scientists we do not accept the governments explanation of the mysterious illness. Depleted Uranium is most likely the culprit just as when the US used the depleted bombs in Gulf War I and health officials recorded data that revealed its horrible effects plus Gulf War illnesses suffered by our own troops. Depleted Uranium bombs are made from nuclear waste and are radioactive. I have seen the actual military films of there use and the missiles hit tanks with such force and power than the area around the hole opened by the bomb is set on fire itself! The bomb is supposed to be illegal in international conflicts but whether you believe it or not Washington considers herself above international scrutiny. Patricia A.
