- TAIPEI (Reuters) - Taiwan
said Saturday two people had died from SARS (news - web sites), more than
two weeks after the last fatality >from the disease.

- The island also reported one new SARS infection, the
14th consecutive day that new cases have remained below five. The total
number of probable cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome is now at
694, the Department of Health said on its Web site.

- The death toll rose to 83 from 81.

- Taiwan has the world's third largest number of infections
and deaths after China and Hong Kong, but the number of new infections
has fallen recently.

- The World Health Organization (WHO) said Friday Taiwan
and Beijing are only places in the world still subject to travel warnings
because of lingering worries about SARS there.

- The WHO dropped the alert for the Chinese provinces of
Hebei and Shanxi, Inner Mongolia and the city of Tianjin.
