New York, NY
Theaters Against War (THAW) launches. This new group
of NYC theatre artists gathered together over 100
theater producers, playwrights and actors on December
9 at PS122. The group is "founded on the idea that
theater is a natural vehicle for a communal,
non-partisan response against the war in Iraq and the
attacks on civil liberties here at home. THAW's goal
is to galvanize the theater community in a single day
of citywide anti-war protest, slated for Sunday, March
2, 2003." Their vision has drawn inspiration from the
Not In Our Name statement of conscience.
