- Astonishing Mystery Creature
SANTIAGO (AFP) -- A strange, skeletal mystery creature measuring
barely eight centimeters and belonging to an unknown species was found
moribund in a field in Southern Chile, where it has caused a sensation.

- The creature lived for eight days after having been found
by a child in the vicinity of Las Lagunas, some 500 kilometers south of
Santiago, and during that time it refused to accept water or food.

- Still agonizing, it constantly moved one of its eyes;
once dead, it mummified swiftly, according to reports, without decomposing.

- The strange being's corpse has a large head disproportionate
to the rest of its body, eyes on the sides [of its skull] a thick neck
and four legs.

- Veterinarian Pedro Katan, who examined it, confessed
his inability to establish the species to which it corresponds. UFO groups
have said it is not a terrestrial creature, according to the "El Mercurio"
newspaper.

- The possibility that it could be a human fetus has also
been discarded, since the various cranial bones are welded among each other,
accoridng to surgeon Mario Dussuel, who held it in his hands. Dussuel,
who is also a psychiatrist, does not believe the case is a fraud.

- "I questioned the family together and I found no
signs of a hoax, lies, contradiction or mythmaking. Nor is there any interest
in receiving compensation or other benefit," he added. "There
is nothing left to do but to submit the creature to electron microscopy
and DNA testing."
