- Northeast A storm system brought some needed rainfall
to relieve the drought conditions across the region. Generally 3/4 to 1
1/2 inches of rain fell from Boston to Washington, DC earlier Saturday.
It was cold enough across New York state and central New England for the
precipitation to fall as snow. Winter weather advisories were in effect
around the Albany area for 3 to 6 inches of snow by early Saturday afternoon.
Snow even fell in the far northwestern suburbs of Boston and New York.
The precipitation should end by late Saturday afternoon for most folks,
but the chilly temperatures are expected to last in the first part of next
week. Frost and freeze advisories have been put into effect for parts of
the area for tonight.
