- KABUL (PNS) - Mobile heroin
manufacturing factories have started functioning in the areas alongside
Pak-Afghan borders with re-starting of the growth of opium in Afghanistan,
said a UN anti-narcotics department report.
Report unfolded that these mobile factories ranging between 8 to 10 had
gone underground in Taliban regime. Following the fall of Kabul and majority
of the areas of Afghanistan to Northern Alliance and local commanders the
cultivation of opium has again started and heroin manufacturing factories
have started functioning a new.
As per report, in the pre-Taliban era, the opium was cultivated in the
eight province of Afghanistan including Jalal Abad, Paghman, Kandahar,
Helmand, Arzagan and Shamli. The Taliban regime had banned the cultivation
of the opium and during the current year it was absolutely eliminated in
the Taliban-controlled areas.
The revival of growth of opium in Afghanistan will affect Pakistan adversely
as the heroin manufactured in the country is smuggled to outer world via
Pakistan. The number of heroin addicts has already reached 50 Lac and it
is on increase day by day.
A report from a local agency working against use of Narcotics has made
horrendous disclosures while focusing on evil impact of smuggling of heroin
on Pakistan. The report reflected that anti-drug British and US agencies
played a major role in the development and manufacture of heroin in opium
specific areas of Guddun, Boner, Dir, Mohmand Agency and Bajour Agency.
These agencies are actively participating in anti- Pakistan activities
with fomenting regionalism and assisting the separation movements against
the country by attempting the people to lucrative incentives in the form
of money and other benefits. All their activities are focusing on fragmentation
of the country into separate states. The US and Briton agencies have taken
hold of the areas with the cooperation of local agents, the report expressed
concern.
