ISLAMABAD (PNS) - While the intense bombing on the Taliban positions in and around Kandahar continued incessantly day and night on Sunday amid reports of gun battle between the Taliban fighters and the anti-Taliban forces, at least 40 dead bodies of the American soldiers were flown back to United States. A major English daily The Frontier Post has reported in their newspaper.
 
Sources from Spin Boldak said that American had suffered these casualties during ambush attack by the suicide commandoes of the Taliban forces in Baldek and Tahkta Pul which is under the control of a local anti-Taliban Commander Haji Gul Agha.
 
Americans recovered these bodies on wee hours of Saturday morning while the heavy bombardment continued by the US war planes and airlifted to Dalbindin air base in Balochistan for onward journey to Jacobabad and finally back to United States, the sources added. But independent confirmation these report could not be made.It is also said that the number of the US forces in the southern Afghanistan could be around 10,000.
 
It may be mentioned that the Spokesman of the coalition forces in Islamabad had accepted the incidents of casualties but he had not disclosed the number of casualties suffered. Sources have also said that the Taliban forces have also suffered hundreds of heavy casualties but because of intense bombing exact number could not be determined.
 
However Taliban were still holding the control of Kandahar,Spin Boldak and some areas in Hilmund and that the gun battle was going on till the filing of this report.Meanwhile sources at Chaman border said that least 15 person which include children also were killed when the US war planes bombed a moving vehicle on the road between Spin Boldak and Kandahar on Sunday.
