- QUETTA - Police on Tuesday
registered treason cases against 10 senior leaders of the religious outfits
on the charges of using objectionable language against the government,
sources said. The sources said the cases had been registered at the City
and the Civil Lines Police Stations, adding, the FIR had been sealed.
-
- These cases have been registered against Maulana Fazlur
Rahman, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Liaquat Baloch, Maulana Abdul Ghani,
Hafiz Hussain Ahmed Sharodi, Maulana Noor Muhammad, Fazal Muhammad Baraich,
Maulana Abdul Baqi, Maulana Mehmood Ghaznavi and Maulana Abdul Haq Baloch.
-
- The sources said that Fazlur Rahman in his speech at
Bacha Khan Chowk on October 2 had severely criticised the government and
used objectionable language. Taking action in this regard, the City Police
Station had lodged an FIR against the JUI-F chief, sources added.
-
- Similarly, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri at his news
conference on October 20 threatened to launch "civil disobedience
movement". On the directives of the police high-ups, the Civil Lines

added. Surprisingly, senior police official expressed their ignorance when
asked about these treason cases.
