US Likely To Suffer More
Casualties At Home Than
Abroad - Cheney
10-24-1

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. war on terrorism will likely cause more casualties at home than among troops overseas, Vice President Dick Cheney said on Tuesday.

In a rare outing from the secret, secure location where he has been living for much of the past six weeks, Cheney said the Sept. 11 hijacked plane attacks on New York and Washington had put the nation ``on notice that the enemy is resourceful and ruthless. We have to assume there will be more attacks.''

``In this conflict, for the first time in our history, we will probably suffer more casualties here at home than will our forces overseas,'' Cheney said.

Some 5,000 people were killed on Sept. 11 and three others have since died of anthrax poisoning from tainted letters sent through the postal system to media companies and the heart of the U.S. government. Two U.S. soldiers supporting the bombing campaign in Afghanistan have been killed so far.

Cheney was addressing the International Republican Institute which awarded him and his wife Lynne the 2001 Freedom Award at a Washington hotel

``It's nice to get out and about,'' he quipped of his unusual public appearance. ``Capitol Hill is much nicer than our cave.''

Details about Cheney's whereabouts and activities have been closely guarded since the attacks in an extra measure of precaution to protect the constitutional line of succession to the presidency.

Cheney said the U.S.-led campaign against the suspected perpetrators of the Sept 11. attacks was ``proceeding on course.''

``Terrorists and their supporters are for the first time beginning to worry about their own safety...They are being swept up in a world wide roundup that is operating 24 hours a day.

``We have clearly disrupted their operations and no doubt prevented some planned attacks,'' he said, adding that the finances of the al Qaeda organization were being untangled and training camps in Afghanistan and Taliban command and control centers had been struck.

Cheney said the war would only end with the ``complete and permanent destruction'' of al Qaeda and similar groups.

``A group like al Qaeda cannot be deterred or placated or reasoned with at a conference table. For this reason, the war against terror will not end in a treaty. There will be no summit meeting or negotiations with terrorists,'' Cheney said. ___

Of course you will, because it's the US gov't or black ops that are doing this! So, they'll make sure you guys are good and terrorized so that you'll go along with ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING that they propose! Look at what they just pulled in Canada - total fascism - total 100% fait acomplit, without even so much as a letter bomb or pipe bomb going off.
